*** Alberta Immigration News Flash ***

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2009/ob146.asp

Click on the link above for ground breaking news for Temporary Foreign Workers.

In a nutshell there is a pilot scheme which opens on August 17th and will run for 12 months that entitles any spouse of a TFW Long Haul Truck Driver can get an open work permit on entry into Canada, this means your wife or partner can work for any company and will NOT need an LMO, i should imagine it will expire when the primary work permit expires...

And families already over here can get one too, its just a slightly different process.

This is huge news for families who have had to give up the luxury of 2 pay packets when they left Europe.

Any H&R families who need more info call Lyndon at the office or cell, or you can also call VRV direct.

Congratulations everyone !!!!!

  4. Well i am a little surprised if this was Clint but if you are Clint (and i doubt it) then you would be able to speak to the hubbies and see if thier other halves have really made those posts. i wont make them public but if the real Clint was to approach me face to face then i would put everyone in touch..........

And i know from experience Jo can speak up for her self........ no offence Jo but i know how you handle Graham.

  6. Hi Shell & Rachel

Youve probably seen the mentality on most of these immigration blogs and forums and for the most part it isnt going to go away. Its amazing really that these people are actually grown ups.

After reading Clints post again he/she/it isnt who i thought they were, i would say they are not English because its a bit strange calling me an "English" clown.

Also judging by the very poor grammar i would say they are poorly educated and have trouble writing. i Dont think i know anyone like that.

  10. Hi Lyndon

Sorry to bother you but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get an invite to your other blog please? I can't say I blame you in the slightest for making it private!! I just love reading it though so that would be great if I could be invited.

    Many thanks

    Jo

P.S. I'll bring hat and mitts for the BBQ :)

  11. Hi Lyndon

I have been following a couple of driver blogs as I'm interested in exploring the move to Canada ( I'm currently a B Double Interstate driver in Australia) I saw that you have another blog and wouldn't mind being able to access it as you seem to have some reasonable info that might come in handy. I'm not interested in the politics between drivers just some facts of what your experience has been

    Thanks Pete C

  12. Hi there. I wonder if anyone can help me out. I attended an interview in Newcastle for H & R Transport and was subsequently offered a position. As a single no ties UK based driver the move looked to be relatively straight forward and I began gathering the necessary documents to send to VRV. A couple of weeks after the job offer I was laid off from my UK job which caused chaos to my finances. I was supposed to fly out in Feb 09 but unfortunately could'nt get the cash together to support me whilst not receiving a wage. I was truly gutted. I would still love to come over and my situation financially is now good. Are H & R still recruiting UK drivers? Would I have to attend another interview etc. Any help or constructive comments would be greatly appreciated and thanks for a great site.

    Regards
    Mat Hoole

  13. I just want to ask something about this... I am a wife of long haulin driver, I came here 2 months ago, before I came I pay application for open work permit but embassy refused it, when I entered in Canada nobody said I can get open work permit because of my husbands work, what I should do now...Should I pay and applicate again here in Canada...

  14. Hi Anon, If your husband has a TWP for Alberta that is for the NOC 7411 category Long Haul Truck Driver then you should be able to get an Open Work Permit either at the airport when you first flew in or you can apply through Vegreville which is the administrative POE for the Province. As far as I am aware the embassy would not issue the Visa. I am not a qualified Immigration Consultant so I would call VRV Global who are Immigration Specialists on 403-269-2224 and they may be able to advise you.
Please let us know how you get on
    Lyndon
